Besides learning how to live without a BAC, I am also a Kansan. Born and raised. Rock Chalk!! Dog-mom to an 83lb small horse, who thinks she runs the house, she might… but damn girl…be a little humble.;). I’m an only child. I am fortunate enough to still have both of my parents and they’re still happily married. I love movies. I relate situations to movies probably more than my friends and family would like. Pulp Fiction, The Big Chill, Boondock Saints, and Adventures in Babysitting are a few of my fav’s. Any John Hughes movie always! I love music, my first love is Tom Petty, I love Tom. I found out he passed away at the grocery store and cried my way through the produce department. I also love Mac Miller! Mac speaks to my soul, he is an amazing writer and artist, in my opinion. No matter the emotion, he has a song for it!
I started this blog after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Cirrhosis in the Spring of 2021. I thought my life was over. I didn’t think I could be loved again. I was constantly looking for content, stories, recovery stories, etc. that talked about alcohol and the aftermath of consuming nothing but it, and also how to live and be “okay” without it.
I found a lot of info and blogs surrounding Cirrhosis, but I didn’t find a lot of personal stories about getting through cirrhosis without also getting a liver transplant. Or being diagnosed at 37, while most people are on their way to happy hour, I was on my way to the ER.
I didn’t think I could do it, but so far, I am. I want people to be able to see first-hand that it can be okay, but it takes time, and it’s worth it, but it takes effort, and you can do it, but you have to want it. But one day, hopefully, you can live a beautiful, fulfilling life, without that hangover backer!
Hasta!
